Wedding weekend
Hi,
This last weekend we went to Chatham, a town about 4 hours drive west of Toronto, for a wedding. Bryan, a post-oc in the lab got married to Amanda. You can see on this map below where it is.
The wedding was nice. We don't hae any pictures from the actual wedding. It was fun to have all the people from the lab together with ther wives/girlfriends. We always hear about the other part of everyone but rarely meet them, so it was nice to get this time together.
We drove with Jonathan and Greg, two people from the lab. The drive was fun and we found the chuch easily. Chatham is a small, rural, boring town. It is very spread out and is the center of south-western Ontario, in the middle of a lot of farms.
After the church ceremony we went to the hotel, got our rooms and got some drinks. We played some games and got ready to go to the dinner. At 17:30 we took cabs to where the dinner and dancing was, found our spots and had more drinks, food and some dancing, before taking cabs back and going to sleep.
The morning after Denise and I decided we want to stop somewhere on the way. We found a place called Rondeau which has a national park and decided to go see it. It is a very nice park, with swamp, forest and beach, all in the same park. We went on two hikes, saw a lot of birds and a turtle. Apparently it is a very important place for birds and many bird-watchers come there to see them.
After the park we drove to another little town, about 500 people to get some food and found this restaurant which supose to have good fish. The fish wasn't that good but the place was very charming. From there we head back home, stopping on the way for some ice vream.
