Tov Mayod!
I started taking a Hebrew class on Monday nights at the JCC (Jewish Community Centre) which is less than a five minute walk from our place. My teacher always says 'Tov Mayod' to everyone which is very encouraging! So far we have reviewed the alef-beit, read through a telephone conversation (about a woman named Rivka and her silly Doda Sarah and Dod Yakov), listened to two songs (one was a very depressing song about love gone bad) and written a little story of an argument to act out with a partner. My story (completed with my classmate Howard) was about a husband being rude to his wife: (Howard's idea!)
Husband: 'Ayfo cafe?'
Wife: 'Sleeyha?'
Husband: 'Boyee hana.'
Wife: 'Beh Ahmet??'
Husband: 'Beh Ahmet!'
Wife: 'Yish Kasef?'
Husband: 'Ayn Kasef. ....... Sleeyha. Ma schlomaha?'
Wife: 'Lech mi po!'
Everyone thought this was a very funny story. Our teacher helped with the final line for the wife because neither Howard nor I knew how to say 'get out!' or anything like that. :) Here are some pictures of the building where I'm taking my class and of me getting ready to go to class. Yoav thought I looked very cute with my backpack so he took a picture of me.
