Benjamin 10th birthday

So, Benjamin does not turn 10 for a couple more weeks, but with the restrictions due to Covid we wanted to do something outdoors and the earlier the better the weather.

The kids have been into Nerf guns recently, getting together with some neighborhood kids in the park for epic battles. We spoke to Mike parents and decided to do a Nerf fight combined birthday party for Mike and Benji. We settled on something low-key, after school outdoors. Frehiwot managed the cake and some decorations, we got some food and the loot bags and it was a relatively easy set up.

We grabbed the 5th grade kids after school and walked to our place to have some snacks and give Mike (and Max) their birthday presents, which were epic Nerf guns. For some reason the kids were singing the Pizza Nova jingle on the walk home!

We then split into Blue and Orange teams, had some pre-battle strategizing meetings and head to the park.

Not everyone in their class was as much into Nerf fights as Mike and Benji so the battles were not as epic as hoped, but all in all everyone had a great time outside together. There was some Blue vs. Orange, some one-on-one, some distance shooting. It was good!

We then went back to our place for cake and hanging out until the parents came to get the kids.

All in all it was a lot of fun, easy to prepare and manage, and even though it wasn't the same caliber of home parties as past years it will be a memorable birthday!
